Quality packaging is fundamental to commercial success and customer satisfaction, whether you’re talking about industrial packaging products and services, computers, cars, or virtually any consumable product or service.
Companies like Apple, Costco, Disney, and Microsoft place a premium on top-quality products and services. All are well-respected within their industries. The same can be said about Pipeline Packaging.
Pipeline’s Commitment to Quality Packaging
Pipeline has long placed a priority on quality. The fact that Pipeline recently earned its ISO 9001:2015 certification is akin to these companies’ purposeful decisions to put quality packaging as their number one priority.
ISO 9001:2015 certification will help Pipeline meet its goal and quality objective … and live up to its quality policy.
To increase our customers’ access to essential, value-added Core Services in addition to quality industrial and commercial packaging.
Our Quality Objective
Customer satisfaction and on-time delivery of quality packaging products and services.
Our Quality Policy
To provide our customers with products and services that meet or exceed their specifications, regulatory requirements, and support our customers' needs. We are committed to excellence in service and continual process improvement. We place a high emphasis on integrity, quality, leadership, and efficiency in all that we do.
About ISO 9001:2015
ISO 9001 is defined as the international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system. Organizations use the standard to demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. First published in 1987 by the International Organization for Standardization, the current version of ISO 9001 was released in September 2015.
ISO 9001:2015 helps companies organize processes, improve the efficiency of processes, and continually improve. More than 1 million organizations from 160 countries have applied the ISO 9001 standard requirements to their quality management systems.
In December, Pipeline Packaging earned its certificate of approval for ISO 9001:2015 from Smithers Quality Assessments. The approval is subject to Pipeline maintaining its quality packaging system to the required standards which will be monitored by Smithers.
ISO 9001:2015 certification is a perfect fit for Pipeline Packaging.
It’s Like Buying Consumer Goods Online
“The packaging industry is not unlike buying consumer goods online,” said Rich Taylor, Pipeline Packaging’s quality manager. “You expect your order to be right and on time. When it is, you’re satisfied. Our customers expect the same. ISO 9001:2015 certification is an important part of our commitment to continue to improve our quality performance for our customers.”
Taylor said ISO 9001:2015 certification formalizes Pipeline’s existing quality management system. Audits will provide an opportunity for the company to track metrics on key performance indicators.
“This certification enables us to identify, measure, and improve our processes that lead to better performance,” said Taylor. “It’s like running. You think you’re running at a good pace but don’t really know until you monitor your speed with a stopwatch. Sometimes you need to formally measure how you’re doing to see where you stand and where you can improve.”
‘Bee’ a Part of the Process
As a customer, you might not realize it, but you, too, can play an important role in improving Pipeline Packaging’s quality packaging performance. Every email sent from a customer service representative is a feedback opportunity via Hively’s “Smileys.” Hively provides a friendly and engaging way for you to leave feedback with just one click. Be sure to keep an eye out for the “Smileys” in our emails to let us know if you’re satisfied, unsatisfied, or somewhere in between. It’s an important way for us to gage where we stand.
One Step at a Time
“We’re learning a lot by going through the ISO processes,” said Taylor. “It’s going to make an impact on our service and delivery performance. This certification is an important step in our commitment to strengthen our quality management system … but it’s certainly not the last step.”
According to Taylor, Pipeline’s corporate office and Cleveland warehouse are certified to the quality packaging standard. The team expects to extend the certification to other Pipeline warehouses moving forward.
